New here
by winnie12 inhey i'm new here, i've been reading up so much here and on other sites about tatt and it has really settled a nagging feeling of doubt within me.
truly i have been lied to and have been trapped in this cult.
i've been suffering with depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, hospitalization, anti depressants, loneliness all this while being in supposedly surrounded by "the happiest people" on earth.

Winnie? As someone once said: "feed your head". Take in more facts and learn at school how things really are. Good luck, there I said it, LUCK!
Be happy.

Saving Mr. Banks is not a typical Disney film. Seen it? Tell us what you think.!
by Wasanelder Once insaving mr. banks is not about mary poppins exactly, not the one we know.
in this movie we come to see who she was to the author through flashbacks that become so entwined with the adult author, a bitter and negative woman, that mary p.'s purpose becomes clear at last and not the disney factory model.
if you haven't seen it, a speech disney gives to her is phenominal in my opinion.

Though Ellison speaks some truth here the movie isn't called "Saving Mister Disney". In fact there is nothing here to support that. Disney does not convince her or the audience that he is anything other than what she supposes. To the end he seems like an opportunist. Though it is heavy on his desire to keep his promise to his daughters you can see the dollar signs in his eyes. Travers is a large hunk of ice that melts only peripherally to others but seems to hollow out internally. It is the superior writing that gives her an Oscar calibur performance. This is a tale of redemption' (not Disney's) and not a biopic. Apparently Ellison just wanted to write a Disney based porno too much and is showing his bitterness at being jilted at the Disney studio gate.

I watched it online of course and it was a pleasent surprise though very emotional. Hope you see it and enjoy it as I did.

Picked my name here before thinking about how it might come off as pretentious or as if I thought it was some badge of honor. Well you get the idea from my name. Free now, not an elder of that type any more.

Kingdom Ministry Feb 2014 has a couple interesting statements
by RayPublisher ini thought the kingdom ministry feb 2014 had a couple interesting things in it:.
1. a short talk encouraging the jw sales force to publicize the jw.org website at every opportunity.. 2. do not put out bibles on your table displays keep them hidden underneath.
i thought they were so p-p-p-p-proud of their new nwt??.

I believe that this refers to NOT having bibles displayed on a table which offers FREE literature. They would go broke if people freely picked up Bibles and took them. Its not that hard to figure this out you guys. Its not an effort to hide Bibles. I am sure the are encouraged to use thier own Bible while witnessing. Its all about economics. And these days who doesn't have a bible arleady?

How bad is the nepotism really with the appointments of elders?
by toto555 ini've seen brothers related or who are friends of elders who get appointed after only 6-12 months as an m.s.
while they were other brothers slaving away for years.
elders also who promote their sons and basically say to other young brothers "to heck with everyone else".

A dynasty where I was, father and two sons. The first son was made a MS when actually inactive while two others getting the national average were passed over, you heard me. He married not long afterwards.
Second son was made an MS. Was appointed MS and sent to Bethel (appointed MS there too) till local girl came forward and confessed to the horizontal mombo with him before he was appointed and reccommended to Bethel. He married someone else not a witnoid.
Now, Daddy is divorced, still elder.
Number one son is divorced, still elder.
Number two son is divorced and out of the Troof. Only one with a brain.

Raised On the Third Day?
by TTATTelder ini have some potentially controversial questions.. i have always wondered about these things in the back of my mind, but i would immediately dismiss them.
now i am giving myself permission to explore them further.... a lot of attention is given to how big the sacrifice was on the part of jesus and god when jesus laid down his life.
as the story goes, jesus gave his life for our sins and then was miraculously raised back to life a couple of days later.. consider this.

scum bag elder
by Crazyguy inso last night i had a family meeting and told my kids that i was quitting as a jw and then gave my wife my da letter to give to the one elder i like at the hall tonight.
so this morning i see a text from the co elder the one that met with me and is gunning to get me out and had already tried to get me to a jc meeting this week.
so the text reads "your wife has informed me of your letter and its sad to hear, would like to meet one last time not as a jc, to be sure this is what you want.".

It is standard procedure for elders to confirm that your letter isn't a rash or emotional decision. It must be confirmed by either meeting with you or having your words confirm it by telling them you are done. So if you are done, email them to respect your written wishes and anything else you wish to say. They will announce it in due time. I agree though, dont use go betweens.

Help me...!
by OneDayillBeFree inlost my job, just a week before making the final arrangements to move into my very own apartment.. got a speeding ticket on the following sunday for trying to make it to the meeting "on time", (never made it to the hall, just parked in the back of a shopping center for 2 hours in silence).. marked by the elders for quitting pioneering, no more commenting and "failing to adhere to bible counsel".. jw family sees me as a disappointment.
non-jw family is too far away to care.. found out ex-girlfriend got df'ed and is now pregnant.
puts some of the blame on me for how things turned out.. realizing that she's not entirely wrong as i was still an ignorant, kiss-ass, die hard jwdub when we started dating, always putting the "kingdom interests first" never having time for her since "the end was so freaking close" and then warping her up in the mess of me learning ttatt.. dwelling night after night in "what could have been" if i had never been a jw.. alternating between being a theist, atheist and agnostic on a daily basis to the point where i don't care anymore yet getting creeped the f*ck out when facing my own mortality and the thought of me dying alone.. always coming to the same conclusion, when i find myself alone on friday nights and weekends, that i have no actual friends, only two conditional jw "friends" which are both currently out of town for about a month and 0 real, non-jw friends.. haven't been able to sleep well in literally weeks now.

You are in the enviable position of starting clean. Your new friends will not judge you by your dogma. They will find that thing about you that they love and cling to it. And you will do the same. Go where people are. Get a job you like. Go to entertainment that you like. Dont do the JW thing and judge everyone you see as being suspiscious because they are different. You are too, you're on even ground now. Breathe deep and change your focus. One thing at a time. Dont even mess with the Hall if its your choice. I found it a weight around my neck when I attended. All the best. Freedom is a new thing to be cherished.
